How to Paint One Wall Darker
Painting one wall darker in a room allows you to add an accent wall to the space. An accent wall generally is used as a main focal point in the space and highlights architectural features or paintings you want to hang in the space. Things You'll Need
- Interior wall primer
- Light paint color
- Dark paint color
- Paint roller
- Paint tray
- Painters tape

Prime the walls in the room to cover existing paint color. Roll on the primer with a paint roller. Allow primer to dry for two hours before continuing.

Paint all but one wall in the room with the lighter paint color. Roll on the lighter colored paint with a paint roller. Allow paint to dry completely and touch up if necessary.

Tape around the edges of the walls joining the wall that you want to paint the darker color. Tape around the ceiling line as well as the floor line.

Paint the wall with the darker paint color. Roll on the darker paint color with a paint roller. Allow paint to dry completely, and touch up if necessary.

Remove painter's tape once paint is dry.
