Instructions

  1. Hard Crayon Removal

    • 1

Scrape the blue crayon off the carpet fibers with a knife. Transfer the crayon scrapings to a paper towel as you collect them to keep from pressing them back into the carpet.

    • 2

Put a brown paper bag over the crayon-stained area and run a hot iron over it to remove the crayon. Change out the paper bag as the blue crayon transfers to it. Repeat this step until no more blue crayon comes out of the carpet onto the bag.

    • 3

Pour 1 tbsp. of dry cleaning solvent into a small container and dip a white cloth into it. Sponge the remaining blue crayon stain with the damp cloth. As the cloth becomes soiled, dip a new section of the cloth into the solvent and keep sponging until all the blue crayon is gone.

    Soft Crayon Removal

    • 4

Put an ice cube in a plastic bag and hold it on the blue crayon until it hardens. Scrape the blue crayon from the carpet fibers with a knife.

    • 5

Spray the stained area with a lubricant spray. Allow to the spray to penetrate the blue crayon stain.

    • 6

Press a paper towel down on the area to remove the blue crayon stain. Spray the area again with the lubricant spray.

    • 7

Squeeze 2 or 3 drops of liquid dishwashing detergent onto the carpet and press the towel down onto it to absorb the blue crayon stain. Repeat Steps 2 through 4 until no more stain remains.

Tips & Warnings

  • As an alternative to dry cleaning solvent, use rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball.

  • If the blue crayon is on a low-pile carpet, apply heat and then rub the area with a high quality plastic eraser. Vacuum up the residue.

  • Test any cleaners on a hidden area of the carpet before using them in case of possible discoloration or damage.
