How to Dispatch a Work Crew in SIM City

The first version of the "SimCity" computer game was released by Maxis in 1989. The game is based on building a realistic simulation of a city, complete with buildings, utilities, taxes, transportation and other services needed to support its inhabitants. Natural disasters such as tornadoes, floods and earthquakes can occur at random times. When a disaster happens in your simulated city, dispatch work crews to protect the citizens and repair any damage.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the "Go To Disaster" button on the toolbar to focus the view center on the disaster site. You can only use this function during an active emergency. If more than one disaster happens at the same time, clicking the "Go To Disaster" button again will take you to the next site.

    • 2

Turn on the warning siren for disasters that place the citizens in immediate danger, such as fires, floods or tornadoes. The siren might be counterproductive for train wrecks or other emergencies that are confined to a small area.

    • 3

Select "Dispatch Firefighters" or "Dispatch Police" from the view center to send out the appropriate work crew to the emergency site. You can only dispatch one crew for each police or fire station in your simulated city. If the station is far away from the site, it might take some time for the work crew to arrive.

Tips & Warnings

  • Set up an automatic responder in the "Preferences" menu to dispatch a work crew to any future emergencies.
