How to Find Out Your Sound Card Specs

Different sound cards have different capabilities.

When your sound card is in your computer, it may be difficult to find out its exact specifications. You can find all of the specifications for your card, but you have to know where and how to look. Knowing your specifications will help you to know what your computer is capable of doing.

1. Read your computer manual. This may give you the manufacturer and some of the specifications of the sound card. This information may be enough for your purposes, or you can use it to determine more information by visiting the manufacturer's website.

2. Visit the manufacturer's website. Find the support section. Look for the information for your sound card's model. This should show many, if not all, of the specifications.

3. Download and install diagnostic software, such as Belarc Advisor, if you have not been able to find the specifications elsewhere. After installing the program, run it. It will show a report, listing all of your hardware and the specifications for each piece of hardware.
