Why Won't My Wii Remotes Sync With My Console?

The Wii is a home video game entertainment system that features wireless remote game controllers. Before you can use a Wii remote with your system, you must first sync the controller with the console. If syncing your remotes does not work properly, you may need to change the remote batteries or reset the Wii console's syncing device. Once this is complete, you will be able to attempt to sync your Wii remotes again.

Things You'll Need

  • New AA batteries
  • Turn on your Wii console.

  • Open the SD card panel on the front of your Wii system.

  • Press and hold the red "Sync" button on the front of your system for 15 seconds to reset the console's synchronization.

  • Change the batteries in your Wii remotes if the batteries are old or need replacing.

  • Press the "Sync" button located in the battery compartment of your Wii remote. The lights on your remote will begin to flash.

  • Press and release the "Sync" button on the front of the Wii console. The remote will sync to the console and the lights will stop blinking. Repeat this process with any other Wii remotes you need to sync.
