How to Brew Tea in a Pot With Loose Leaf Tea
Loose leaf tea is thought by purists to give a truer tea flavor than prepackaged tea bags. More flavors and types of tea are available in loose leaf form than in tea bags in gourmet shops or online. Brewing tea requires a teapot, boiling water and, of course, tea. In a few simple steps you'll be enjoying a satisfying cup. Serve with a choice of lemon slices, milk, cream and sugar. Fill a kettle with water and bring to a boil.

Fill the tea pot with the boiling water. Let is stand a minute to heat the tea pot. Pour out the water.

Bring the water to a boil again. Add 1 tsp. of loose tea for each 6 oz. of water the pot holds. For example, if the tea pot holds 24 oz., add 4 tsp. of tea.

Place the tea in the pot. Add the boiling water. Let the tea brew, or sit, for two to three minutes. This brings out the full flavor of the tea. The tea leaves will settle in the bottom of the pot so you won't have to strain it as you pour.

Fill the tea ball with 1 tsp. of tea for each 6 oz of water.

Bring the water to a boil. Fill the teapot and let it stand for a minute. Pour out the water.

Place the filled tea holder into the pot. Fill the pot with boiling water. Swish the tea ball in the water. Let the tea brew for two or three minutes. Remove the tea ball and pour the tea.

Tips & Warnings
Tea brews best in water that is at the boiling point.
Steam burns. Be careful when pouring the boiling water.
