How to Disable Focus in WoW

Use "Focus" to target certain characters in WoW.

Focus is an in-game feature used by players of the massively multiplayer online PC video game "World of Warcraft." It is used to mark a specific target by opening up a new character box on the screen for the selected unit. Some players appreciate this feature because it allows them to easily monitor a secondary target. It must be activated by the gamer, but it can be tricky to shut it off once the gamer activates it.

Instructions

    • 1

Set the focus by left-clicking or right-clicking on a target. A character portrait will appear to the right of yours at the top left of the computer screen.

    • 2

Right-click the character frame you have created. You must right-click on the picture portion and not on the name or health bar.

    • 3

A drop-down menu will appear under the portrait. Left-click the "Set Focus" option. This will create the focus frame, which is identical to the first character portrait you created, but sits just below the first one.

    • 4

Right-click on the focus frame. You must click on the picture portion of the character portrait. This brings up a drop-down menu. Select "Clear Focus" to disable the focus frame you created.

    • 5

Press the "ESC" key to deselect the unit.

Tips & Warnings

  • The keyboard command "/clearfocus" can be used to disable the focus frame once it is set.

  • Gamers can move the focus frame to another area of the screen by selecting "Unlock Frame" from the focus frame drop-down menu.
