Spider costumes are excellent costume ideas for Halloween or any spooky event you want to creep over to. The biggest challenge for a spider legs costume is those extra four legs. Spiders, of course, have eight, but sewing the extra four isn't very time-consuming, and the only sewing required is for attaching the legs to the costume. You'll be crawling off in no time. Instructions

    • 1

Select a black sweatshirt and pants. Other options include black jazz pants and a black, long-sleeved shirt as well. The sweats are slightly baggy while the shirt and pants are a little tighter.

    • 2

Get two pairs of black tights. Avoid thin nylons and get tights that are thicker and darker. Cut the legs off the tights.

    • 3

Stuff the tights with either cotton stuffing or fiber fill. This will form the four extra legs. Add a bendable wire or coat hanger if preferred to hold the legs in a specific pose. If adding the wire, put it inside the tights and adjust before stuffing. The wire is not required.

    • 4

Sew the tights closed. Pull the tights closed and use a simple back and forth stitch through both layers of tights to close the tights. This will prevent the stuffing from falling out.

    • 5

Attach the legs to the sweatshirt or cotton shirt. Space the legs evenly under the arms and pin them to the fabric using sewing pins. Pin along the previously sewn closed section. Start sewing from the inside of the shirt. Sew all three layers of shirt and tights.

    • 6

Adjust the four extra legs. Add accessories to the costume as preferred.
