When you're listening to your favorite FM radio station, it can be extremely frustrating when static or bad reception get in the way of enjoying your programs. Very often, FM radios have poor reception because either their antenna is an inadequate size for the station you are trying to reach or something is obstructing the signal. To counteract these sources of static and poor reception, you can build a simple FM booster. This simple antenna accessory can give you access to a wider range of radio stations, as well as improve the quality of their sound.
Step 1
Wind the metal wire into a wreath. The more metal wire you use, the more boost you will give your FM radio, so don't hesitate to use an entire spool.

Connect one end of the alligator clip wire to an end of the wreathed wire. Alligator clip wires are pieces of wire with an alligator clip on both ends. Alligator clips are metal clasps with serrated teeth, meant for transmitting radio signals and electricity. They are used to set up circuits quickly and impermanently.
Step 3
Place the wire wreath on or near your radio's antenna.
Step 4
Attach the other end of the alligator clip wire to your radio's antenna.
