Plywood is a cheap material that is useful in a variety of projects

Because foam mattresses don't offer an inordinate amount of support in and of themselves -- the mattress being made out of foam, and all -- the savvy homeowner will attach the mattress to a piece of plywood to add in the needed support. Of course, before you can attach the plywood to the mattress, you're going to need to cut the wood down to the appropriate size first. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Use your measuring tape to measure out the dimensions of your foam mattress.

    • 2

Use the dimensions from the previous step to mark out the appropriate size on your plywood sheet. A straightedge ruler will help you get the lines straight enough.

    • 3

Place the plywood on your table saw -- or if you are using a circular saw, place the plywood on your saw horses -- and adjust the guide bar so that the blade lines up with the first line you made.

    • 4

Turn on your saw and guide the blade into the wood. Do not worry if your cuts are not perfect, as the plywood is not intended for decorative purposes.

    • 5

Continue making the cuts along the lines you marked out in step two until you've cut the plywood board down to the correct size.
