How Do I Remove the Instrument Cluster Off of a 1994 Sedan DeVille?

Removing the instrument panel on a 1994 Cadillac Sedan DeVille requires removing the dash pad to access the screws to remove the cluster. Removing the cluster is important if the lights need to be replaced in the back. The cluster can also be replaced with an aftermarket model or even a stock model if the original one in the car goes bad.

Instructions

    • 1

Pull out the front air conditioning vents by hand. They will come out easily. Locate the screws in the instrument panel and unscrew them with a Phillips head screwdriver.

    • 2

Locate the screws along the defroster vents and unscrew them with a Phillips head screwdriver. This will loosen the dash pad. Do not attempt to move the speaker covers. Lift the dash cover off by hand as this will expose the bolts holding the cluster in place.

    • 3

Unscrew the four screws holding the cluster in place. There will be one in each corner. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove those screws.

    • 4

Pull the cluster away from the dash to expose the wires in the back. Pull the locking tab up and pull the wiring harness out of the back of the cluster. There will be two wiring harnesses in the back of the cluster.

    • 5

Pull the cluster away from the dash. Place all the screws in a sealable bag for later use.

Tips & Warnings

  • On analog dashes, there is a screw behind the shifter that can be unscrewed with a small line wrench. Unscrew this bolt to release the gear indicator wire.
