Use the cup provided with the Sanyo Rice Cooker to measure out the desired amount of rice. Rinse the grains, if called for, and pour the measured rice into the inner metal pot, which should be nestled securely into the machine. Add water to the uncooked rice in accordance with the variety of grain being cooked. Follow the general rule of adding 1 to 1-1/4 cups of water per cup of rice.

Let the rice continue to steam for 15 minutes after the "cook" process is over and the machine has automatically switched to the "warm" mode. Steam vegetables, dumplings or other foods in a Sanyo Rice Cooker by first adding the desired amount of water to the inner pot. Measure at least one cup (180 ml) of water into the pot. Insert the steaming tray into the pot. Distribute food items evenly across the tray. Secure the lid, plug in the power cord and turn on the "Cook" function. Monitor the rice cooker manually as the food steams, checking the pot occasionally by lifting the lid and stirring. Watch for the "Cook" light to switch to "Keep Warm," which indicates that all of the water has evaporated. Turn off the "Cook" switch and unplug the machine when the food has been thoroughly steamed.
