How to Operate a Matrix Treadmill

Treadmills let you go for a walk or a run without leaving your home or gym. The Matrix T5x treadmill is a commercial treadmill with a 60-inch by 22-inch running area that has a hard-wax reversible deck. The incline range of the treadmill is from 0 to 15 percent, and the speed range is from .5 to 12 mph. The console of the T5x is a dot-matrix LED. The machine has a one-button quick-start function, and the running or walking program can be reprogrammed on-the-fly.

      Press the Quick Start button, then the Manual program button. Press Select or wait five seconds, then press Start. The treadmill will begin at .5 mph with a 0 percent incline. Choose the time of your manual workout with the up and down arrows. Press Select, then Start. Choose the incline level of your workout with the up and down arrows. Press Select, then Start. To calculate the calories you'll burn, enter your weight with the up and down arrows. Press Select, then Start.

      Press the Program button to choose a workout program. For example, if you press the Program button until Rolling is displayed, then you press Select followed by Start, this will simulate walking or running on rolling hills. Choose the workout time with the up and down arrows, then press Select followed by Start. Adjust the incline level for the workout with the arrow keys, then press Select followed by Start. Enter your weight with the up and down arrows, then press Select followed by Start.

      Press the Target HR button to choose a heart rate program. You should use the heart rate chest band when you run a heart rate program so the T5x can monitor your heartbeats per minute. Choose the time of your program with the up and down arrows. Select your age with the up and down arrows. Choose the Percentage of Maximum Heart Rate by using the arrow keys. This number should be between 50 and 80 percent. Select Maximum Speed/Elevation to select the speed or elevation that you want to use in the heart rate program. Adjust both with the up and down arrows. Press Start.
