How to Make Crayon Stencils

Add a splash of color to your child's room with crayon stencils.

If you are decorating a child's bedroom, you can make the room look more whimsical and exciting by painting child-oriented stencils onto the walls. For example, you can stencil on colorful crayons to make the room look more child-friendly. Instead of buying crayon stencils from a craft store or decorating shop, you can actually make your own stencils using a few basic art supplies, such as sheet vellum and a simple pen knife.

Things You'll Need

• Vellum
• Cutting mat
• Measuring tape
• Wax pencil
• Pen knife

Instructions

1. Place a sheet of vellum on a cutting mat.

2. Use a wax pencil to trace a rectangle on the vellum that measures 3 inches wide and 6 inches long.

3. Cut out the rectangle using a pen knife.

4. Trace out a triangle from the vellum that measures 3 inches on all sides. Place the tracing about 1/2 inch from the end of the rectangle cutout.

5. Cut out the triangle shape. Use the vellum crayon form to stencil crayons onto walls or furniture.
