1
Plan your desk according to the size of the room and your overall needs. If you need to fit two computers and a printer onto the desk, and it's a tight room, consider using a thin, long desk. Consider even a wall mounted desk for added space efficiency.
-
2
Create appropriate storage space for all of your office needs. If your home office is also where the bills are kept and financial information is stored, consider using a magazine or mail rack on the wall.

3
Plan for efficient lighting. The ideal lighting for any office is natural light. If natural light is not accessible, consider using fan lights or other above-head lighting. This ensures there is one less item cluttering your desk or floor space.
-
4
Select an office chair that can be fully pushed underneath the desk. This ensures enough walking space for comfort of movement.
-
5
Avoid over cluttering an office. If the purpose of the office is writing or running the household, don't use the space for a pantry, second kitchen or playroom.
