How to Clean the Filter on a Simplicity Dehumidifier

A Danby Simplicity Dehumidifier is actually an air purifier, humidifier and dehumidifier combined. The unit contains a HEPA filter and an air intake filter. The HEPA filter is a replaceable filter that you should replace approximately every six months. The air intake filter is a reusable filter.   • Vacuum
  • Mild detergent
  • Microfiber cloth
  • Soft-bristled brush

Instructions

    • 1

      Turn off and unplug your Danby Simplicity Dehumidifier.

      Attach a brush or crevice tool to the hose on your vacuum. Plug in and turn on the vacuum.

      Remove the air intake grill from the front of the unit. Vacuum both sides of the grill to remove dust buildup. Set the grill aside.

      Remove the HEPA filter and set it aside.

      Remove the air intake filter. Grasp the handle, pull it up and then toward you.

      Vacuum the air intake filter on both sides, then turn off and unplug your vacuum.

      Fill a sink with lukewarm water. Add enough detergent to the water to make it sudsy.

      Wash the filter on both sides with a microfiber cloth. If necessary, dislodge debris from the filter with a soft-bristled brush.

      Rinse the filter thoroughly; then shake the excess water from it. Set the filter aside to air dry.

      Reinstall the filters, after the air intake filter dries completely.

      Reattach the front grill. Plug it back in, and turn on the unit, to begin using it once more.

Tips & Warnings

  • Harsh chemicals or abrasives can damage your dehumidifier.

  • Operating the unit without either filter will also damage it.
