OxiClean is a brand of oxygenated bleach. Oxygenated bleach is a powerful cleaner that is free of the chemicals usually used in deck cleaning supplies. It is safe to use on decks surrounded by landscape plants. Most deck cleaners contain bleach, which would cause vegetation in the area to die. A small amount of oxygen bleach goes a long way and is often less expensive than using the deck cleaner you usually find at your hardware store. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • Water
  • Oxygenated bleach
  • Pressure sprayer
  • Broom
  • Garden hose

Instructions

    • 1

      Mix together 2 lbs. of oxygenated bleach with 5 gallons of water in a garden sprayer. This will clean 300 to 500 square feet.

      Spray a 10-square-foot area with the OxiClean and water mixture and scrub the area with a stiff bristled broom.

      Spray the cleaned area with a garden hose to remove the dirt and the cleaning solution.

      Spray in small areas with the garden sprayer and scrubbing to clean the deck.

  • Only clean unfinished wood decks with a oxygenated bleach.
