How to Whiten a Chipped Tooth

Cosmetic dentists have many ways of giving you back your smile after you chipped your tooth.

Dentist cosmetic surgery offers patients a great number of procedures intended for making chipped teeth look natural or whiter; however, not all of them will work with equal effect. If you go about it the wrong way, your quest to get back your million dollar smile might even leave you with a spotty set of teeth.

Instructions

Try porcelain veneers. The dentist will first make a mold out of your teeth, and then create veneers in which he or she will later dress your teeth. Getting porcelain veneers is an effective way of making all of your teeth look the same and natural; however, it is an expensive procedure.

Get your teeth polished. A very natural look can be achieved by polishing teeth with a rubber cup, a brush, or by an air polisher. This procedure will get rid of stains where the bonding was placed on your chipped tooth, making it look both natural and whiter.

Have your teeth bleached with a laser. The dentist will bleach your teeth by using a highly concentrated gel that he or she activates using a special light, commonly known as laser. You can whiten your teeth up to 10 shades, but there is a chance the bonding will not respond to the laser and become even more transparent.

Bleach at home. You can bleach your teeth with the help of various over-the-counter gels, toothpastes, and rinses. However, if you're dealing with a tooth that was fixed after chipping, you need to be aware of the fact that the bonding will not necessarily respond to bleaching chemicals.
