How to Load & Unload Pallets
Moving large loads often requires the use of pallets. Properly loading and unloading pallets will ensure that everything is kept safe and is not damaged during moving. Using pallets often requires the use of pallet jacks, stretch wrap and a forklift. You can rent these items from industrial supply houses or local hardware stores. With the necessary equipment, a supply of uniform-sized boxes will help ensure that pallet loads are easily stackable and maneuverable.
Instructions
-
Loading Pallets
-
1
Place a pallet near the boxes you are loading.
-
2
Carefully stack boxes in a uniform fashion onto the pallet.
-
-
3
Stretch wrap the boxes on the pallet to ensure they do not shift when you move the pallet.
-
4
Roll the pallet jack into the pallet. Move the pallet near the truck you will be loading.
-
5
Lift the pallet onto the truck. Using a pallet jack in the truck, maneuver the pallet into a particular location in the truck.
Unloading Pallets
-
6
Move a pallet close to the truck trailer's edge.
-
7
Place the forklift tines into the pallet.
-
8
Remove the pallet from the truck. Carefully place the pallet next to the truck.
-
9
Roll the pallet jack into the pallet. Roll the pallet to a location where you will unload the boxes.
-
10
Cut the stretch wrap carefully from off the pallet. Boxes may shift when moving, so slowly unwrap the pallet.

Tips & Warnings
You can move pallets with the forklift in lieu of pallet jacks. However, this can make unloading pallets from a truck go slower as the forklift is not constantly unloading pallets.
