How to Replace the Master Cylinder Clutch for a 92 Honda Accord
The clutch master cylinder is a vital component to the clutch operation on your Honda Accord. If your car is no longer shifting the way it should or if the clutch pedal starts to feel soft even though it has adequate clutch fluid, you may need to replace the clutch master cylinder. The most difficult part of this repair may be dealing with the close quarters under the dashboard.

1
Disconnect the negative battery terminal by removing the battery cable from the post. This is the first step in any vehicle repair to reduce the risk of electrical shock while you are working on your Honda Accord.
-
2
Disable the driver's side airbag. To do this, use a Torx screwdriver to turn the screws on the airbag maintenance panel on the steering wheel column counterclockwise to expose the airbag connections. Disconnect the airbag connector from the cable reel and place the red shorting connector into the airbag side of the connector. The shorting connector can be found in the maintenance lid.

3
Pull the cotter pin at the top of the clutch pedal and the pedal pin out of the clutch yoke.
-
4
Remove the bolts on the clutch master cylinder. The master cylinder is located on the firewall inside the engine compartment of the vehicle. Pull the master cylinder free from the firewall.
-
5
Remove the hydraulic lines from the clutch master cylinder. Do this over a bucket or a pile of shop rags to minimize the mess.
-
6
Install the hydraulic lines onto the new clutch master cylinder and place the new master cylinder onto the firewall. Turn the bolts clockwise to fully secure the master cylinder.
-
7
Replace the cotter pin and pedal pin to re-connect the clutch pedal to the master cylinder.
-
8
Remove the red shorting connector from the airbag and reconnect the connector to the cable reel. Replace the maintenance lid and tighten the screws.
-
9
Reconnect the negative battery terminal and start your car. At this point, you will need to fill the clutch fluid reservoir and bleed the clutch lines to expel any air pockets from the hydraulic lines.

Tips & Warnings
Never perform any work near the steering wheel column without first disarming the airbag system. Doing this could result in accidental airbag deployment and serious injury.
