How to Install Sewer Pipes in Single Family Dwelling
Installing sewer pipes in your house can be challenging but planning and some basic knowledge make the job much easier. If your blueprints show the sewer line schematic, then you are well on your way because the planning has be done for you. If not, you will want to carefully draw out a diagram of your house showing all of the rooms and each fixture that requires plumbing such as sinks and bath tubs. Does this Spark an idea?

Draw a sketch of your house identifying each structure that drains water such as sinks and bathtubs.

Draw the sewer lines running from the fixtures to a main drain line usually in a central location.

Draw a vent line for each fixture that ties into a main vent line.

Install the drain system by gluing a 2-foot piece of PVC pipe onto the end of the first fixture such as a sink or bathtub.

Glue a "T" on the end of the drain pipe with top of the "T" pointing up at 90 degrees. Make sure that the "T" is sloping down 1/8-inch per foot.

Glue a piece of PVC pipe onto the opposite end of the "T" and continue running to the main drain line.

Glue PVC pipe on the "T" facing up.

Run this line into the main vent line.

Do these steps for each fixture. The main drain line will stub out into the basement.

Connect all of the main drain lines into one central line that runs laterally and exits out to the septic system or sewer.

Tips & Warnings
All of the drain lines will be connected to one or two main drain lines.
Work from the top of the house down.
Acquire all permits needed by visiting your township building.
