Replacing partially used bars of soap can be expensive and unnecessary as these small chunks of soap can be recycled and turned into a scented gel soap that can be stored in a pump or small container. This craft can be performed in a single afternoon without the need for expensive equipment. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Grate 2 cups of soap chunks with a kitchen grater. This will make the pieces finer, which will cause them to melt more rapidly.

    • 2

Pour the soap shavings into a glass or stainless steel pot.

    • 3

Melt the shavings on the stove over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the soap has completely melted.

    • 4

Add 1/2 cup water and 2 tbsp. glycerin to the pot.

    • 5

Stir the ingredients and add 10 to 15 drops of essential oil to the pot.

    • 6

Simmer the mixture for 15 minutes and then remove it from the heat.

    • 7

Allow the contents to cool slightly before pouring them into an airtight container or empty plastic soap pump.
