Make a fortune-telling toy to add fun to holiday parties, such as Halloween, birthday parties and just-for-fun family gatherings. You can create a fortune-telling toy inexpensively by using online sources for artwork and putting in a little time to use your own imagination and creativity.       Create a "Buddha Belly" fortune-telling toy. Use a cardboard box as the structure. Go online and find an image of the classic Asian Buddha that you can print. Glue or tape the print to the front of the box. Carve a door to open Buddha's belly. Create a list of fortune cookie-style answers on your computer. Cut the answers into strips and fold them in half. Insert the answers inside of the box. Invite people to ask a question, rub Buddha's belly three times, and then open the door on Buddha's belly to pull out a slip for the answer to their question.

      Redesign a piñata's purpose. Turn it into a fortune-telling toy. Get a paper Mache piñata from a craft store. Paint the piñata however you like. You can also add small candies inside to make cracking the fortune piñata even more enjoyable.

      Make a "Magic 8 Doll." Purchase a "magic 8 ball" toy from a toy store. Get a large plastic doll or stuffed animal that you will not mind "amending." Cut open the belly area of the doll and glue the magic 8 ball inside. Have people close their eyes, ask a question in secret, unspoken and not aloud. Then have them shake the doll to see the answer to their question appear on the magic 8 ball on the doll.

      Design a magic lamp. Get a decorative vase or urn that can symbolize a classic magic lamp from a home décor and accents store. Look for an item that hands can reach inside of to pull out a fortune-cookie style answer. Or, you can use "magic eight ball-style answers, such as: cannot predict now, ask later, outlook good. Put small incense holders on the side of the lamp and light them to make the setting magical. Have kids or adults ask a question aloud or secretly, then pull out a slip with the answer to their question.

      Make a "Chances Are" fortune telling toy with a spinner that gives an answer to a question. Go online and find classic visual symbols like the sun, or the man in the moon. Print the symbol and mount it on a piece of cardboard or foam core board. Print the words: "Chances Are" in a big type size, such as 32 to 48 points to serve as the title for the toy. Divide the mounting paper material into four quadrants, labeled: Yes, No, Maybe, Take a chance. Add a spinner element in the center made of paper or lightweight metal and attached with a small nail to the face of the sun, moon or symbol. Have people ask a question and spin the dial to get tell the fortune and get and answer to their question.

      Create a "smiley" and "frown" face fortune-telling toy game. This is a very simple and easy fortune-telling toy idea. Go online or create your own classic yellow smiley faces and frown faces. Make seven smiley faces and seven frown faces, about one or two inches in diameter. Use the smiley face to represent "yes" -- and the frown face to represent "no." Copy, cut and paste the faces on a word document. Put a question mark on the opposite side of the smiley or frown face. Print the sheets so that one side has a smile or frown and the opposite side has a question mark. Cut out the fourteen "coins" and put them in a bag or jar. Have people ask a yes or no question, then shake the jar or bag and pull out just seven coins. Have them count the number of "yes" smiley faces and "no" frown faces to get the final answer to their question.
