How to Remove Coffee Stains From Formica
Formica is a plastic laminate surfacing material used to cover a wide variety of home and office items such as countertops, tables, kitchen islands and desks. Although Formica is a durable product, it can scratch and stain. Whether the dry coffee stain on your Formica came from a large spill or cup overflow that settled on the bottom of a cup, you should always remove the mark as soon as possible to help reduce the amount of cleaning needed in the future to keep your Formica surfaces looking good. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Wipe the coffee-stained area five or six times with a slightly soapy lint-free microfiber cloth and then rinse with a damp cloth to remove the soap to determine the level of true "staining," rather than loose coffee or other debris, that remains on the surface.
-
2
Mix a few drops of water with baking soda until the mixture has a paste-like consistency. Apply the paste to the stain and then wait five minutes. Wipe the paste carefully away without scrubbing or rubbing it against the surface and then rinse the area again with a damp cloth.

Tips & Warnings
To help prevent future staining, always wipe up coffee immediately after a spill.
Never use strong or harsh chemicals or cleaners to remove stains from Formica surfaces as damage can result. For the same reason, never use abrasive cleaners or cleaning tools.
Never soak the Formica -- you can cause it to warp or break down the adhesive holding it in place.
