How to Remove the Exhaust Filter on a Germ Guardian Vacuum Cleaner
The Germ Guardian vacuum cleaner was designed for versatility: It has the ability to go from an upright vacuum to a canister vacuum with the click of a button. The vacuum features two filters to prevent dust and dirt from exiting the vacuum when cleaning. Removing the exhaust filter on a Germ Guardian vacuum cleaner requires some disassembly of the vacuum. Unplug the Germ Guardian vacuum power cord from the wall outlet. Grasp the dirt cup handle on the front of the vacuum and press the release button on the back of the handle.

Pull the dirt cup canister out of the vacuum. Locate the edge of the exhaust filter frame at the bottom of the dirt cup housing on the vacuum.

Lift the exhaust filter frame out of the vacuum with your fingers. Pull the exhaust filter out of the frame. The exhaust filter simply presses into the frame.

Tips & Warnings
Installation is the reverse of the removal process.
Tap the filter over a trash can to remove loose dirt, then rinse under warm water to clean. Allow the filter to air dry completely before reinserting into the vacuum.
