      Dip a soft cloth or paper towel into vegetable or canola oil until damp.

      Use the cloth or paper towel to wipe the interior of the waffle iron, carefully covering all surfaces of the grids.

      Connect the power cord to a working power supply and close the lid.

      Leave the waffle iron turned on and closed for approximately 15 minutes.
