1
Open a template. You can either create your own template, or use an already existing template. To open a template, start Kid Pix and "File" at the top of the screen, then click "Open." Find the folder in which you saved your templates. You can also download ready-made templates from the Internet. If you wish to start from scratch, just go to "File" and click on "New." This will give you a blank canvas.

2
Click on the tools and experiment to learn how each one works. Tools include a pencil, wacky paintbrush, line tool, oval tool, eraser, text stamp, paint bucket, moving van, eyedropper and "Undo Guy." The "Undo Guy" is especially important. If you draw an object and decide you don't like it, use the "Undo Guy" tool, which will undo the last change that you made.

Add special effects. You can import photographs or add stickers or animation. You can also create slideshows and video. To top off your project, you can add sound effects--even your own original recorded sounds. The Kid Pix Studio version of the software will let you select special effects through Kid Pix, Wacky TV, Moopies, Stampimator, Digital Puppets and SlideShow projects. Again, the best way to learn how these tools work is to experiment with each one.
