How to Make an Embellished Birthday Hat
When you are celebrating a child's birthday, go all out and make birthday hats for the guest of honor and all of her friends. Rather than using the plain birthday hats that are available in most party stores, embellish the hats so they are personalized for your child's party. Your child can keep the hat on a shelf in her room so that she always remembers her big day. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Plain party hat
- Scissors
- Cloth
- Hot glue gun
- Glue sticks
- Paint pen
- Buttons
- Rhinestones
- Pom poms
- Feather boa

Choose a plain, cone-shaped hat to use as the base of your embellished party hat.

Cut a piece of cloth to cover the party hat. Choose a solid-colored taffeta, a printed cotton or anything else that you like.

Heat up your hot glue gun and use it to attach the cloth to the hat.

Use a paint pen to write your child's name on the front of the hat. Alternatively, write the name on the hat using hot glue and choose an embellishments, such as buttons, rhinestones or pom poms to spell the name.

Cover the hat completely with the remaining embellishments, or put them on the hat randomly.

Cut a piece of a feather boa that is long enough to fit on the base of the hat. Glue on the feather boa as the hat's final embellishment.
