How to Remove Stains in an Old Tub
Old tubs have stains that seem etched in their surfaces. The longer the stains sit on the surface, the harder to extract from the tub. Old tubs require a cleaner that sits and loosens the stains over a period of time, without ruining the finish on the tub surface. Things You'll Need
- Old rags
- Oven cleaner
- Bucket
- Lime scale remover
- Nylon scrubber
- Sponge
- Towels

Wipe excess dirt and dust from the tub with old rags. Spray oven cleaner over the stains in the tub. Allow the oven cleaner to work on the stains for two hours.

Fill a bucket with warm water. Wet an old rag in the water. Wipe the oven cleaner and stains from the tub with the rag. Use additional rags if necessary to remove all the oven cleaner and stains.

Spray the entire tub with a lime scale remover. Allow the lime scale remover to remain on the tub for 10 to 15 minutes.

Scrub the entire tub with a nylon scrubber. Rinse the tub with a sponge and bucket of water. Dry the tub with towels.

Tips & Warnings
To add a shine to an old tub, spray a cloth with an all-surface cleaner and buff the sides of the tub. Do not apply to the bottom of the tub as it could make it slippery.
