How to Arrange a Silk Christmas Flower Basket
During the Christmas holiday season, a basket of silk flowers can dress up an entryway or dining room table. As these permanent blossoms remain in pristine condition throughout the season for a no-fuss decorative floral arrangement, a silk Christmas flower basket makes a thoughtful hostess, teacher, office or friendship gift. Silk flowers are available in single stem sprays or full bushes which are cut apart for floral designs. Roses, poinsettias, mums and carnations are flowers often displayed during the holidays; use silk versions to fill a round fireside or sleigh-shaped basket. Does this Spark an idea?

1
A simple basket puts an emphasis on the flowers in the arrangement. Cut a piece of floral foam with a sharp knife so that it fits snugly into the bottom of the basket. Glue the foam to the container with a glue gun.
-
2
Cut 6 to 8 main silk flowers, such as poinsettias, roses or carnations, at a height that is two to three times higher than the basket interior with wire cutters. If the basket has a handle, the flowers will be approximately the same height as the highest point of the handle.

3
Insert one flower into the center of the foam in the basket.
-
4
Insert four more flowers, positioning one near each outer corner of the foam. The blossoms should be placed at a slight angle pointing outward.
-
5
Cut 1/2-inch pieces from the stems of the remaining main flowers and insert them at opposite points from one another in the spaces between the positioned flowers.
-
6
Cut the stems of filler silk flowers, such as chrysanthemum poms, carnations, sweetheart roses and miniature poinsettias, at varying heights shorter than the main flowers.
-
7
Insert the smaller filler flowers into the spaces between the larger main blossoms.
-
8
Turn the basket to view the Christmas silk floral arrangement from all angles.
-
9
Insert short stems of silk Christmas greenery, cones attached to wooden picks or decorative berries into any open areas in the silk flower basket arrangement to add a finishing touch.
