How to Write an Essay to Be Class Vice President
School politics can be very exciting -- as an elected officer, you get to help make important decisions that will guide your class through the academic year. You know you are ready to handle this important responsibility, and you need to craft an essay that lets everyone else know it, too. A well-written essay can mean the difference between achieving your dreams of being class vice president, or sitting on the sidelines while another student takes the spotlight.

1
Go to a quiet place where you will not be disturbed. Several options include your room if you have your own, the library, or a study hall.
-
2
Gather your materials. Make sure that you have a working pen and plenty of paper, or a computer and printer. If you are writing the final draft of your essay by hand, have some white-out nearby to cover mistakes.

-
3
List the reasons why you want to be class vice president on a separate sheet of paper. Once you have the list, cross out any reasons that relate only to you, or are too vague, such as "I think it would be cool and lots of people would like me." Focus on reasons that are specific and helpful to others. For example, you might say, "I want to be class vice president because it will give me the opportunity to make our school a better place.

4
List the things that you plan to do for the class after becoming vice president on a separate sheet of paper. If you are running on a co-ticket with a presidential candidate, you might want to coordinate your answers. Try to make them as broad as possible, and focus on topics that people care about. For instance, you could say "If elected class vice president, I plan to work for better lunches in the cafeteria." Choose only tasks that you think you can reasonably accomplish.

5
Write your essay. Introduce yourself in the first part. The second part explains why you want to be class vice president, and the third focuses on what you plan to do once you achieve that goal. The last part should reiterate these points in a brief summary, and thank the listeners for their time.

Tips & Warnings
Revise your essay before completing it. Set it aside for a while, and then re-read it for spelling, punctuation, and grammatical errors, as well as typos.
