How to Reset the Oil Change Light on a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am

The 2002 Pontiac Grand Am has an engine oil monitoring system. This system illuminates a change oil light based on the number of engine revolutions. It serves as a reminder to have your Grand Am's oil changed. Expect the light to appear approximately once every 3,000 to 3,500 miles. Bring the Grand Am to a professional to have the oil changed, or change it yourself, and then reset the system to make the change oil light turn off.

Instructions

1. Open the Grand Am's driver's side door. Look on the end of the dash to find the fuse panel. Pull the panel handle to remove the panel from the dash.

2. Find the red button marked "Reset." This is the button you'll use to reset the Grand Am's change oil light.

3. Turn the ignition key to "On," but don't start the engine.

4. Push the red "Reset" button. You'll notice the change oil light flashes.

5. Push the red "Reset" button again. The change oil light turns off. Turn the ignition off. Remove the car's key.
