Instructions

  1. How to Make Edible Arrangements in Fruit Bowls

    • 1

Slice pineapple and apples into 2-inch cubes. Wash and hull strawberries. Use a melon baller to scoop out balls of melon. Remove grapes from stems.

    • 2

Place the assorted fruit onto skewers. Use a variety of fruits to fill in each skewer. Leave 4-inches free at the bottom.

    • 3

Slice a pineapple, watermelon, cantaloupe or other type of melon in half. Anyone of these can be used as the bowl for the skewers. If using a melon, scoop out and discard the seeds and pulp. Watermelons and pineapples remain halved; nothing needs to be removed.

    • 4

Stick the fruit-laden skewers into the prepared fruit bowl. Move the skewer as deep as possible without piercing the rind. Arrange the skewers, so the center skewers stand vertically. Add more skewers circularly around the center. Place these skewers at a slight angle, increasing the angle as you reach the outer layer skewers.

    • 5

Instead of just fruit, mix in chunks of cheese. Add hard cheese cut into 1-inch squares. Use chunks of ham as well. For a dessert arrangement, use chunks of chocolates or other candies that can be pierced with a skewer.

Make an Edible Bowl for a Fruit Arrangement

    • 6

Slice all fruit except berries into 1- or 2-inch squares. Wash and hull strawberries. Remove any small stems off of the other berries.

    • 7

Halve a watermelon, cantaloupe or other type of melon. Remove all the fruit except a thin layer next to the rind. Slice up the removed fruit to use with the rest of the fruit chunks in the fruit bowl.

    • 8

Add all the cut-up fruit and berries back into the newly created bowl. Fruit in a variety of colors, textures and shapes adds to beauty of the edible arrangement. Serve with a large spoon.

Tips & Warnings

  • Bring arrangements to school parties for a healthy alternative to candy and cupcakes.
