How to Boost Productivity & Morale in the Workplace
Happy employees are productive employees. When morale is high, your employees are more engaged, and they care about doing a good job. They create a high-quality product, make a good impression and effectively meet customers' needs. In order to boost morale and productivity in your workplace, first create an organization whose values and principles are sound. 1
Craft a mission statement that expresses your company's purpose and its values. Express your company's larger purpose in terms that your employees will understand and appreciate. Define the organizing principle inspiring you to create the product or service that you provide. For example, if you work for a company that does medical research, write a mission statement that communicates to your staff the commitment to alleviate the suffering of patients who suffer from a particular disease.

2
Train your employees with an eye toward aligning your company's products and services with its mission statement. Be sincere and give them a source of inspiration and pride. Teach them to consider each decision they make in light of the company's overall purpose. For example, if you run a company that manufactures energy efficient lightbulbs and your mission statement expresses a commitment to minimizing the carbon footprint of the business and its customers, train your employees to evaluate the environmental impact of production processes and delivery systems. Solicit their input in making decisions and reviewing strategies in order to increase employee involvement. This will improve efficiency by creating intelligent systems that serve the company's overall purpose.

Solicit employee input about ways to improve your company's processes and increase its output in ways that are consistent with its overall mission. Show your appreciation for your workers' contributions by listening to their suggestions and implementing useful ideas. Prioritize the process of continually working to improve your company's performance and its fulfillment of its mission through employee involvement.

4
Track the measurable effect of changes that you make as a result of employee input, and share this information with your staff. For example, if an employee proposes a change to a manufacturing process that increases productivity, chart the amount of product that your company produces and the time that you take to produce it, and show how these numbers improve over time. Also provide your employees with information about ways that their contributions have improved company processes in intangible ways, such as sharing positive customer feedback.
