Sending candy to the troops can bring a smile to someone's face.

Military troops are working every day to ensure our freedom and to help other countries achieve the same freedoms we enjoy. There are many ways you can support the troops and uplift their morale. Soldiers love to get letters and care packages from home. However, some soldiers do not have families that send them these items. Anyone who would like to support the morale of the troops can send candy or other items.

Instructions

    • 1

Collect the candy. You can send any type of candy. However, chocolate is not advised, especially in the summer months, because of its tendency to melt. Hard candies, licorice, chewy candies and other nonmelting varieties are appreciated.

    • 2

Pack the candy in a No. 4 box, which measures 7 inches by 7 inches by 6 inches, or No. 7 box, which measures 12 inches by 12 inches by 8 inches. These boxes can be obtained for free from the U.S. Postal Service. Use packing materials to keep the candy from shifting during transport.

    • 3

Address the package. If you have obtained the address of a particular service member, address the package directly to him. If you are making a donation to an organization, such as Operation Shoebox or Operation Gratitude, address the package to that organization for distribution among the troops.

    • 4

Mail your package via the U.S. Postal Service Priority Mail. Priority Mail will get the package to its destination faster and allows you to use the free boxes available from the post office.
