Wood furniture is just like any other type of furniture in that it can become dirty or scratched. Unfortunately, you can't clean wood furniture the same way you would a piece of furniture made out of plastic. Most cleaners will strip wood furniture of its necessary oils. It is important to use linseed oil when sprucing up wood furniture to replace any oils lost while cleaning. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 1 gallon hot water
  • 2 Tbsp. turpentine
  • 4 Tbsp. linseed oil
  • 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • Bucket
  • Plastic gloves
  • Soft cloth

Instructions

      Pour 1 gallon of hot water in a bucket.

      Add 2 tablespoons turpentine, 4 tablespoons of linseed oil and 2 tablespoons of lemon juice. Mix thoroughly.

      Put on plastic gloves to protect your skin from the solution.

      Dip a soft cloth in the solution and wring it out. Wipe down the furniture starting at the top and working your way down. Keep dipping and wringing out the cloth as you go.

      Dry and buff the furniture with a clean, dry soft cloth.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure the bottle of linseed oil used says "boiled." Otherwise, you will have to boil it yourself before adding it to the hot water.
