How to Make a Gift Basket With Homemade Jellies
A basket of homemade jellies makes a tasty and thoughtful gift any time of year. Food gift baskets remain popular in the specialty food sector, reports Supermarket News. A gift basket of homemade items is even more personal. Because jars of jelly are heavy, choose a long and narrow basket so you won't need to stack the jars on top of each other. With a little strategy and decoration, your loved one will be amazed that you created the entire basket yourself.

1
Spread decorative paper shreds along the bottom and sides of the basket. The paper shreds add a festive touch and cushions the jars from each other. You can find decorative paper shreds at any major craft store in a variety of colors appropriate for any occasion.

2
Line the jars of jelly inside the basket and on top of the decorative paper shreds. Gently place the jars into the paper shreds approximately 2 or 3 inches apart from each other. Add another small handful of paper shreds between each of the jars for extra cushioning.

Complete the contents of your gift basket by resting a box of crackers or mini-toasts in front of the jams. Place this item last so that you can be sure the jams won't dent or pile on top of the box.

Lay the stiff plastic wrap flat on a table or floor and place the basket in the center. Pull the plastic up around the sides of the basket and above the jars, securing it with your hand. Tie a ribbon around the plastic.

Tips & Warnings
Make sure you tightly seal all jelly jars before tying the gift basket in plastic. For longer car trips, store the basket jelly side up, instead of on its side.
