1
Use a kitchen knife to scrape away excess hot glue that has dried onto your carpeting. Hot glue is easier to scrape away when it's still pliable, so the faster you get to it, the better.
-
2
Get out a small eyedropper. Carefully fill it with a few ounces of acetone.
-
-
3
Place the eyedropper directly over the leftover hot glue on your carpeting. Let one or two drops fall onto the glue.
-
4
Use a tissue to quickly soak up the acetone by pressing firmly into the carpeting right away. Repeat this process a few times.
-
5
Check the stain. If you can still see or feel some hot glue on the carpeting, get some dry cleaning solvent and add a small amount to a rag.
-
6
Place the rag over the hot glue stain and use your fingertips to press it into the carpeting.
-
7
Lift the rag and add more dry cleaning solvent to a different area and press it into the hot glue stain a few more times.
-
8
Get a dry rag, and use it to soak up the remaining dry cleaning solvent once the hot glue has been removed.
