How to Edit Text on a Verizon Phone

How to Edit Text on a Verizon Phone thumbnail
Every call and or text you make represents you professionally.

As a business professional, at times you may have to send a very important message via text on your Verizon phone. These messages represent your business and your professional image, but your cell phone probably doesn't have an adequate spelling and grammar checking system. Using a simple trick, you can send edited texts to your recipients. Typing your texts in a word processor first provides you all the editing tools you need. Then, you can text your messages to just about anyone with just a quick email to your Verizon account.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your word processor. For example, if you have a Microsoft Word trial edition, double click "Microsoft Word" on your desktop. Type and edit as usual. Keep the message under 160 characters, or you won't be able to send it as a text.

    • 2

Click and drag over the text from the beginning to end with the mouse pointer to highlight the complete message.

    • 3

Press "Ctrl" and "X" simultaneously to cut the text from your word document.

    • 4

Click "Start," "Email" to open your email account if you use Windows Mail. Instructions vary depending on what email program you use.

    • 5

Click "File," "New" to open a new email and paste the text into the body of the email.

    • 6

Type your own cell phone number followed by "@vtext.com" in the "To" line of the email. For example, type "555-555-4455@vtext.com."

    • 7

Check your text message inbox. For example, on the LG Envy Touch tap the "Open Envelope" icon on the bottom left hand corner of the screen.

    • 8

Open the text message you just emailed to yourself. Again, on LG Envy Touch Phone just touch the text message. It's a new text and should be at the top of your screen.

    • 9

Tap the "Forward" icon. This is usually found on the bottom left hand corner of the text message.

    • 10

Tap the "To" box and type in the cell phone number for your recipient.

    • 11

Touch "Send" to send your edited Verizon text message.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use the word count feature of your word processing program ("Tools," "Word Count" if using Microsoft Word) to keep the message character count under 160.
