Instructions to Make Mini Scrapbooks
Creating a mini scrapbook allows paper crafters to finish a project quickly and see the final result without all the time involved in completing a traditional, full-sized album. These little albums provide the perfect way to showcase any special event with 10 to 20 photographs. Mini scrapbook albums come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Although the most popular size remains 6 by 6 inches, smaller sizes and unique shapes, such as circles, hearts, flowers and even houses, provide additional themes. Step by step instructions for a beautiful mini album will help you showcase photos of that special event.

1
Choose a mini album. Consider your theme. If you are building a home, a house-shaped option would work well. For an anniversary album or "What I love about you" theme, a heart-shaped album would carry the theme. Some paper artists even paint over or alter old board books to create mini scrapbooks. Alternative sizes, which are made of chipboard, do not usually have page protectors, which protect photos.

2
Choose your photos for the mini scrapbook. Usually one per page works well, since mini albums have less space. This allows you to showcase the photo on each page. Albums may only have 10 to 12 pages, as opposed to the 20 pages offered in standard-sized albums. Journal in the scrapbook, so that you can remember as much as possible about the event years from now.

3
Choose papers for the mini album. You will need to trim pages to fit the album you use. For chipboard albums, you may want to paint the pages so you do not have to trim papers to awkward sizes.
-
4
Decorate your page however you like.
-
5
Trim photos, if desired, using the paper trimmer. Crop out unnecessary background bits so you can focus on the subject in the picture.
-
6
Attach an adhesive of your choice to each corner of the photo. Place the photo in the desired spot on the page. Note: You may adhere photos prior to embellishing your page, if you like.

Tips & Warnings
Optional embellishments for scrapbook pages provide additional decoration, according to the scrapbooker's design tastes. Some embellishments include rub-ons, patterned paper, stamps, brads, ink, buttons, paint, flowers, chipboard accents and paint. Use coupons and take advantage of sales to buy products over time, if you plan to keep scrapbooking. There are no hard and fast rules for scrapbooking. Immerse yourself in the creative process!
Scrapbook products offer safe, acid and lignin-free materials. Acid and lignin destroy photographs with time; these turn newspapers yellow with age. Photo-safe products protect your treasured memories. When beginning to scrapbook as a hobby, it can be easy to become overly zealous and purchase a lot of unnecessary products.
