Instructions

    • 1

Cut 3-inch wide strips of fabric. Stitch the strips together, using a needle and thread, to create three 9-foot long strips. Roll each 9-foot strip into a ball, for braiding ease. Lay the three ends together and stitch them securely together.

    • 2

Braid the strands together. To braid the strands using a basic three strand technique, you need to pick up the left fabric strip and bring it up and over to the middle position, then pick up the right fabric strand and bring it up and over to the middle position and then repeat this pattern. At the end of the braid, secure the three pieces of the fabric strands together using the needle and thread.

    • 3

Thread the yarn needle with a long strand of yarn. Securely tie the end of the yarn strand to the top of the fabric braid.

    • 4

Tightly coil the braid in a spiral shape. Lace the braid securely in the spiral shape by threading the needle with the yarn through one strand of the braid on the inner side to another strand of the braid on the outer side of the coil. Continue to coil and lace the braid until the entire braided length is coiled and secured together, forming a round rug. Tie the yarn end around the end of the braid.

    • 5

Weave the loose ends of the braid into the strip of braiding next to it in the coil and stitch the ends securely in place with the needle and thread.
