How to Attract Finch Birds to a Finch Feeder

Even though some finch feeders are designed to attract a certain species of finch, the type of finch feeder isn't crucial to attracting them. Tube feeders most often are used for finches. While you may use any of a number of types of feeders, selecting the right kind of food is essential to attracting finches to your yard.

• Thistle or Nyjer seeds
• Perch

Instructions

1. Hang the finch feeder in a location separate from other bird feeders and free from predators.

2. Buy thistle or Nyjer seeds. Pour the seeds into a tube, satellite or regular feeder.

4. Change the finch feed at least once a month or more often if the seed is wet.

5. Establish a perch near the finch feeder for the birds to sit on while they wait for an open spot at the feeder.
