How to Be Unaffected by Falling Off the Side in Mario Kart for the Wii

How to Be Unaffected by Falling Off the Side in Mario Kart for the Wii thumbnail
"Mario Kart Wii" allows players to race against each other in a digital simulation of a go-kart race.

In "Mario Kart Wii," players race small vehicles around a track, which is often elevated above an abyss. If you fall off the track your kart is reset after a few seconds, but those seconds lost can cost you your placing in the race. During online play, it sometimes appears as if other players can reset their karts immediately after falling, but this is simply a result of network lag. While you can't be completely unaffected by falling, there is a way to negate its effect to a certain extent.

Instructions

    • 1

Race on a map that allows you to fall off the edge of the track, whether into water or into the bottomless expanse. "Rainbow Road" and "Wario's Gold Mine" are two maps notorious for such features.

    • 2

Drive your kart off the edge and wait for the game to reset you onto the track. This will take a couple of seconds.

    • 3

Press the "2" button the instant your kart appears back on the track. This will give you a sudden burst of extra speed, allowing you to catch up with the other players faster.
