How to Be on a TV Home Improvement Show

Getting on a home improvement show can get your remodeling done.

Home improvement shows aired on TV are reality programs that aim to renovate, redecorate and drastically change the appearance of the house of the applicants. One of these shows that is very popular because of its underlying theme of helping the applicant rebuild his home to fit the family's special requirements is "Extreme Makeover" on ABC. The application to be cast on "Extreme Makeover" has the prerequisite of a family that desperately needs a home makeover.

Instructions

1. Enter the website of ABC's "Extreme Makeover" reality show into your Internet browser (see Reference 1).

2. Press the "download" button or the "apply now" tab depending on your convenience. One is for online application--you'll need to register with the ABC network in order to do this--and the second option is for accessing the format of the application that you can fill in, print and then post to the show's address.

3. Explain to the selection committee why your family is the perfect choice for casting in the series. Be sure to talk about the current condition of your home and how essential the makeover will be for the family.

4. Outline in detail your hobbies, interests, skills and abilities. Fill in all the required information such as your contact information and accessible telephone numbers.

5. Circle the option of the dates that best suits you to be on the focus of the show.

6. Fill in the details of your family members who would participate on the show with you if your application is successful.

7. Read the Form Release Agreement carefully and sign it.

8. Take two photos of your home from strategic locations that show the need for improvement. Burn the photos on a CD.

9. Proofread the entire application and take a printout.

10. Put the form in the envelope with the burned CD of the photos and also include a self-addressed stamped envelope.

Tips & Warnings

• Include video footage of your home in your application package.

• When you submit photos and videos to the network, these become the property of the network.
