Instructions

    • 1

Coat your wooden plugs with decoupage paste. A popular decoupage product is Mod Podge, which is a crafting sealer, glue and finish in one. You can pick it up in crafting stores and it will make your plugs safe to wear on your ears.

    • 2

Place your origami paper face down on a flat surface. Choose a patterned paper if you want patterned wooden plug earrings or a solid color if that's what you prefer.

    • 3

Place your wooden plugs, still wet with decoupage paste, face down on the origami paper. Allow the paste to dry completely.

    • 4

Trim the origami paper around your wooden plugs with a razor blade knife. When you lift your plugs, the faces should be covered by the origami paper.

    • 5

Paint the sides of your wooden plugs to match the colors on the origami paper. Allow the paint to dry completely.

    • 6

Glue the old stud earrings to the backs of your wooden plugs with the hot glue gun, with the posts sticking out. Allow the glue to dry completely and your earrings are ready to wear.
