Commercial cleaning products can be expensive, but by using a steam cleaner combined with inexpensive household cleaning items you can not only deodorize but also disinfect the carpeting.   • Steam cleaner
  • White vinegar
  • Laundry detergent

Instructions

      Fill the fluid canister of a steam cleaning unit with a cleaning solution. Use one cup white vinegar and one tbsp. laundry detergent per quart of water.

      Turn on your cleaning unit and allow it to heat up for one minute.

      Pull the steam trigger and slowly run the cleaner over your carpeting just as you would a vacuum cleaner, only slower.

      Continue across your carpet until you thoroughly clean it and allow to air dry. Repeat as needed if any odor remains after cleaning.

      Deep clean your carpets every three months or so, or as needed depending on the amount of pets, dirt and odors that are present in your home.
