The Instructions to Wear a Mei Tai
The mei tai is a baby carrier that must be worn properly and securely to avoid posing a risk of injury to the child. A mei tai is fairly easily to wear if you know how to go about it. Make sure that the mei tai is made of quality materials and fabric to ensure optimum functionality. Wearing a mei tai is a skill that you can master with practice.

Identify the part of the mei tai that you want to be facing away from you. Hold that part against your legs.

Tie the shorter wings of the mei tai in a tight knot around your waist.

Sit on a chair and hold the baby so that the baby can wrap his legs around your waist.

Hug the baby and pull the body of the mei tai over the back of the baby all the way up to your chest.

Pull each strap over your shoulders all the way to your back. Make sure the baby is sitting comfortably in the carrier.

Cross the straps over your shoulders while ensuring that the straps are taut and tight but the baby remains comfortable.

Bring the straps to the front of your body, circling your waist.

Tie the long straps in a tight knot either at the back of the baby or at the bottom of the baby. Make sure the knot is secure.

Tips & Warnings
If the straps feel sharp, keep them flat and avoid them getting into a twist, except where necessary.
Hold the baby high up on your chest and make sure the baby is lying flat against your chest.
You can let the baby take his arms out of the mei tai because that is safe and can make the baby feel at ease.
Make sure the baby's head is supported by the mei tai.
Ensure that the knots are tied securely and there are no loose ends.
