How to Create Christmas Dominos

If you are looking for an entertaining, yet festive, game to craft for little ones coming to your house for the holidays, then consider making a set of Christmas dominoes. These paper dominoes follow similar rules as the standard dominoes. But they do not have dots like traditional dominoes. Instead, they have pictures of different holiday symbols -- such as stockings, bells and holiday trees. Use materials you already have around your house, if possible. Making the dominoes also is a great activity for children. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Place a piece of construction paper on your flat work surface and turn it, so it faces you vertically. Fold it in thirds vertically.

    • 2

Turn the paper horizontally and fold it in thirds again. Open up the paper and flatten it.

    • 3

Repeat steps 1 and 2 with a second sheet of paper.

    • 4

Draw holiday symbols in each "box" created by the folds. You have 18 boxes to fill total. Use markers, crayons or colored pencils to draw two holiday trees, two bells, two holiday wreaths, two stockings, two gingerbread cookies, two sprigs of holly and berries, two train cars, two stars and two angels. The matching symbols should be as identical as possible.

    • 5

Cut along the folds with a pair of scissors.

    • 6

Laminate your dominoes at your local copy center. Cut around the perimeter of the dominoes. You are ready to play.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you do not want to draw the symbols for your Christmas dominoes, print off a template of pre-made Christmas dominoes from a website providing them for free. You will need to insert computer paper and multi-colored ink into your printer.
