Building a home is a challenging process. One way to make the process more enjoyable is to create a home building scrapbook. Instructions

    • 1

Create a page or several for the scrapbook outlining the plan for the home. Put in pictures of designs that you like, as well as possible floor plans and other design elements that you like. Use home building or design magazines for inspiration and print pictures and plans from the Internet.

    • 2

Make a page for the design and floor plan that you finally decided on.

    • 3

Take pictures of the home throughout the building process. Make sure to get pictures of all of the stages of building, such as ground breaking, foundation, framework, electric, plumbing, insulation and walls, roofing and interior finishing. Show the installation of major appliances and interior decorating choices such as flooring, painting, furniture. Photograph each room in various stages of interior decorating. Don't forget to take a picture of the finished house.

    • 4

Arrange the pictures in the scrapbook in chronological order. Add journal entries for each page about that stage of building. Put in what you were feeling, any problems you faced or changes that you had to make.

    • 5

Add in samples of the items used in the process of building the home. You could put in a piece of one of the foundation bags, a paint sample for the walls, the picture of the flooring that you choose, or advertisements for the appliances or other items that you have in the home.

    • 6

Embellish the pages as desired with stickers, ribbons, buttons, staples or any other appropriate decorative objects. Include a photo of your family to commemorate the completion of your new home.

    • 7

Place a picture of the finished house on the front cover of the scrapbook. It will be interesting to continue to document the changes in your home and the exterior landscaping -- and your family -- as the years go by.
