How to Mix Rabbit Deterrent
It is fun to see rabbits frolicking around in your yard. Unfortunately, they can do a lot of damage to your lawn and garden. There are chemical rabbit repellents on the market that you can use to deter these critters from ruining your property. However, many people prefer to mix their own homemade rabbit repellent. This option is safer for the rabbits and is also safer for your own plant life. Additionally, it can be a cheaper option than purchasing chemical rabbit repellent. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 3 tbsp. crushed cayenne pepper
- 3 tbsp. hot sauce
- 3 tbsp. dish soap
- 1 gallon water
- Bucket
- Spray bottle

Combine crushed cayenne pepper, hot sauce, dish soap and water in a bucket. Any common dish soap will work for this recipe.

Pour this mixture into a spray bottle. Use a brand new spray bottle or an old spray bottle that has been thoroughly cleaned out so that it doesn't contain any other types of chemicals that may affect your plants.

Make sure that the ingredients are completely mixed through by vigorously shaking the contents inside the spray bottle.

Spray the mixture onto the leaves or stems of the plants that you want to deter rabbits from.

Tips & Warnings
Planting certain plants in your garden will also naturally repel rabbits, according to The Daily Puppy website. These plants include garlic, mint, flowering onions, nasturtium, dusty miller, autumn sage and garden penstemon.
Erecting a fence or other barrier around your garden is another way to keep rabbits out of the area.
Be careful not to get the repellent in your eyes. Wash your hands thoroughly after using it in your garden.
